Volunteering at TMC Hospice

Volunteers are the heart of TMC Hospice, providing invaluable support and companionship to patients and families. Our volunteers embody our philosophy of compassionate care, enhancing the quality of life for those we serve.

Our philosophy

Meaningful care for those in need

At Peppi's House, our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care for our patients and their families by sharing stories and experiences, understanding their needs by listening and offering support with openness.
We believe volunteers bring the outside world into someone who is home-bound, providing solace and comfort to a patient with a gentle touch, a quiet word or a smile.
Our volunteers are open to people's spiritual needs and are always concerned about the welfare of both the patient as well as the patient's family and friends.
If you are someone who shares this philosophy in hospice care, please continue to learn more about volunteering at TMC Hospice & Peppi's House, or fill out our volunteer application form below:

Is hospice volunteering right for you?

Hospice volunteering is a meaningful commitment, and reflecting on a few key questions can help you understand whether this role aligns with your strengths and values:
  • Do you enjoy working as part of a team?
  • Do you like learning new things and meeting new people?
  • Are you flexible and comfortable adapting to change?
  • Are you dependable and responsible?
  • Do you bring compassion and a genuine dedication to the wellbeing of others?
  • Have you made peace with your own mortality?
  • Can you respect perspectives on death and dying that differ from your own?
  • Are you able to maintain healthy boundaries and say “no” when needed?

Hospice volunteering is well suited for those who thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy connecting with others and approach their work with flexibility, empathy and positivity. Individuals who are comfortable with diverse beliefs around death and dying—while understanding their own limits—play an essential role in supporting patients and families through difficult times.
Volunteering can also be a deeply rewarding experience, giving you the opportunity to make meaningful differences in the lives of patients and their families. It offers a chance to gain a deeper understanding of life and mortality, learn new things, meet new people and contribute to your community by supporting those who need it most.
