Tucson Medical Center Hospice offers up to six individual bereavement counseling sessions to grieving family and friends of the hospice patient at no cost. Counseling sessions take place at Peppi’s House on TMC’S campus. Prior to beginning, a counselor will call the grieving person for a brief interview to provide information about the counseling service and to determine if counseling is the best way to help. Sometimes, it becomes apparent that the grieving person’s needs are too complex to be addressed through grief counseling. In this situation, the counselor will make reasonable efforts to assist the grieving person to connect with a community psychotherapist.
