Understanding the right time to consider hospice care

Deciding when to ask about hospice and palliative care is a personal decision. If you are still benefiting from treatments aimed at curing your illness, it's not yet time for hospice.

Once treatment options are no longer effective, consult your physician for guidance. TMC Hospice is available anytime to offer information. Consider hospice or palliative care if:
  • You have made multiple trips to the ER to stabilize you, but your illness significantly progresses, impacting your quality of life.
  • You've been hospitalized several times within the last year with the same or worsening symptoms.
  • You prefer to remain at home rather than in the hospital.
  • Your physician has informed you that there are no more treatment options.
